Mixer Spur Chart Calculator

This "Mixer Spur Chart Calculator" Java applet allows you to rapidly calculate the frequencies and power levels of single-tone mixer spurious signals when provided with a set of input frequencies and power level parameters for your frequency plan.  Press "Calculate" to view the spurious frequencies in the chart, then click within close proximity of any displayed line in the chart to view the calculated power level of that spurious signal in a pop-up window.  Continuously clicking your mouse cursor at various points along any frequency line will indicate the frequency that you clicked at.  The pop-up window is designed to open up in the center of your screen, so if you locate this browser window you are now reading to either side of the screen you may find that the pop-up window won't cover the spur chart when it appears.

(Java must be enabled in your browser to use this.  If you don't see the Spur Chart Calculator program above this sentence, click HERE to troubleshoot the problem with your browser.)

A detailed description of the equations used to calculate the frequencies and power levels of the single-tone mixer spurs can be found in the November 1997 (Vol. 40, No. 11) issue of Microwave Journal magazine entitled: "Single-Tone IM Distortion Analyses Via the Web: A Spur Chart Calculator Written in Java".

Enter your frequencies, power levels and N X M order, then select "Calculate". Setting RF Spec1, 2 and IF Spec1, 2 will allow you to display a rectangular box for your specified region of interest within a larger frequency range (RF Low, High and IF Low, High) to perform your displayed spur chart analysis.

To obtain any spur amplitude click on the spur line of interest and the dBc spur level and RF/IF frequency co-ordinates where-ever you click will be displayed in a pop-up window. Discard the pop-up windows by selecting "OK". For further help using this program, click the "Help" button which will take you directly to the help file.

Adjusting the screen width of your browser will aid in locating where the pop-up windows will appear. This Java applet produces a screen image in your browser that will not print directly to your local printer. You must use a bitmap-capture program if you require hard copy output.
