Hittite Microwave has released a series of wideband MMIC Low Noise, Driver and Power Amplifier die products which cover Test Equipment, Military ECM/EW, Fiber Optic and Microwave Radio/VSAT applications from DC to 20 GHz. This family of four 50 Ohm GaAs PHEMT Distributed Amplifiers offers gain levels of 14 to 17dB, noise figure as low as 2dB and P1dB output power levels ranging from +12 to +26 dBm.
The HMC462 is a self biased Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) that offers excellent gain of 15dB ±0.5 dB and 2.5 dB typical noise figure (NF) from 2 to 20 GHz. The HMC462 delivers +14dBm output power at 1 dB gain compression while requiring only 63 mA from a single +5V supply. The HMC462 is the self-biased version of the HMC463.
For receiver applications that require ultra-flat gain response coupled with a 2.5 dB NF, the HMC463 Low Noise 2 to 20 GHz MMIC AGC Amplifier offers 14dB gain with ±0.15 dB gain flatness. This device also features an Adjustable Gain Control (AGC), which can be used to reduce the gain of the amplifier by as much as 10 dB. LNA output power is +16dBm typical while consuming 60mA from a +5V supply.
With an output IP3 of up to +32 dBm, the HMC464 Distributed Power Amplifier MMIC offers P1dB output power of +26 dBm and saturated output power (Psat) of up to +28dBmbetween 2 to 20 GHz. Small signal gain performance is flat at 16 dB ±0.5 dB while the amplifier draws 290 mA from a +8V supply.
For telecom infrastructure such as OC192 LN/MZ Modulator Drivers or test equipment applications which require high dynamic range as well as operation down to DC, the HMC465 Driver Amplifier MMIC delivers excellent performance from DC to 20 GHz. The distributed amplifier combines 17dB ±0.25 dB of gain, 2.5 dB NF, +30 dBm output IP3 and ±1 deg deviation from linear phase. Delivering an output voltage of 10Vpk-pk or +24 dBm Psat, the HMC465 requires only 160 mA from a +8V supply.
